Summer / Prefall 2023
For her SPF 23 Collection, Alma, Carolina traveled to and from Havana, Cuba throughout 2022 to create a new musical called Alma alongside her husband.
While traveling and working, Carolina found inspiration in Cuban architecture - the fusion of Neoclassical and Baroque styles, the tiles from art-deco époque, and the bold color combinations found in the streets of Havana. Carolina created two prints, Tropic and Tropicana, in collaboration with Cuban artist and designer of Alma the musical's visual identity, Paola Gonzalez, inspired by Alma's music and dancers.
Summer Pre-Fall 2023 encompasses hand-crochet fringes and patchwork pattern dresses, new-to-the-brand t-shirts, Alma-inspired printed jumpsuits and more. Prints found throughout the collection were inspired by Carolina's travels throughout Cuba, including the rivers and landscape found in the mountainous region of Pinar del Rio. As always, Carolina utilizes all organic and recycled materials to create her collections to keep the impact on the earth as minimal as possible.
The collection was shot by Carolina and her husband, Ivan Belasutegui, in Cuba in a new hotel opening its doors on December 16th, 2023. That same weekend, Alma the musical will premiere at the National Theatre before beginning its tour around the world.
