Spring / Summer 2022
Jaclyn Shahan's collection tells a story about dissolution, transformation, and reconstruction. It’s about the tragedy and destruction of the largest ship of its time: The Titanic. It currently resides at the bottom of the Atlantic barely recognizable. By the will of nature, trillions of rusticles, algae, and barnicles now cloak the entire wreckage - a once pristine ship - and the timeless personal items inside. Each item tells a story about the person who owned it. It is a strange reminder that everything is in a constant state of change, continually undergoing slow but undeviating alteration.
