For LORING New York’s Fall / Winter 2021 collection Long Xu was inspired by Studio 54 the Documentary, one of the many documentaries he watched during the stay-at-home order and travel restrictions put upon New York due to Covid-19. For Xu, watching the documentary left him with a sense of liberation and a spirit of passion, something he felt was in need of during the Covid era, which the legendary nightclub provided during the 70s, thus creating irreplaceable culture and style.



The recurring print in the Fall / Winter 2021 collection is inspired by the work of contemporary American collage artist Cecil Touchon’s TYPOGRAPHIC ABSTRACTION. Xu deconstructed the LORING NEW YORK logo and created two sets of prints from it, and simultaneously played with color and scale.
