This collection, entitled Inheritance, is the evolution of the brand’s past collections – Heritage (SS20) and Legacy (FW 2021). Through use of colors, patterns, symbols, and techniques, Studio 189 seeks to interconnect stories from immigrant communities and highlight the beauty of our shared experiences through cloth. This year marks 20 years since September 11th and 1 year since the brand launched their Fashion Our Future campaign dedicated to encouraging voter participation particularly among marginalized communities. We take a look not only at where we are coming from but also explore concepts of where we are going, what we are inheriting and what we are leaving as inheritance, considering our connection with humanity and Mother Earth.
