THE FIRST COSMIC DANCE
The objective was to research ways to reprogram the subconscious using repetition, symbolism, and trauma. After watching, “The last dance” on Netflix, Michael Jordan, Scottie Pippen, and Dennis Rodman showcased those methods masterfully. The mental alchemy that took place on and off the court to perform at the level of perfection was beyond human comprehension. Therefore, I assigned their origin to Sirius ‘B’, which serves as the environment for the collection. The silhouettes came forth by transforming numerous snapshots of the games throughout their career into wearable structures. This resulted in the spirit of the collection, by utilizing intricate and chaotic lines created by the physical impact among players and studying each player’s style of movement. The materiality of the work consists of Shima programed knit, crochet, waxed, and unwaxed canvas,waffle knit, cotton-polyester, shirting,twill denim, etc.
