2021SS <Stolen Identity>
the STOLEN GARMENT began developing its 21SS collection with an image of a tranquil resort. As the collection developed, however, the image became disrupted by a series of mysterious phone calls to the company’s rep number. Like an uninvited guest to a peaceful retreat, the voices on the other side of the phone inquired about adult products, knock-off viagras, where to buy them, and how to use them. The disturbances caused by what appears to be a case of identity theft led to the juxtaposition of the image of tranquil space on one hand and the loud graphic elements found in subway leaflets and spam mails on the other. The collection consists primarily of relaxed silhouettes as seen in the comfy trousers with rubber-band waist, relaxed mac-coat, and oversized long field jacket, and uses reinterpretations of the mailman uniform’s silhouettes and details.
