Collection III is aimed to serve as a medium to educate the world about Vrede919's Nigerian Heritage. We do this by shedding light on a Nigerian music hero and activist, Fela Kuti, who is the inspiration behind this collection. His relevance is re-emphasized in these times due to his activism against police brutality in Nigeria, and there's no better time than now to do this, following the #ENDSARS movement that took place a couple of months ago in Nigeria. We do not want the fight of our youth to die down, which is why we would like to continue the story through our medium, fashion!
The second narrative of this collection has to do with the title of the collection, "Water No Get Enemy" (the title of one of Fela's most popular songs). It is translated to mean "nobody should hate anything as useful as water", and was named because the collection is predominantly made from denim, the biggest water waster in the fashion industry. Vrede919 wants to shed light on this problem; hence, we are only using sustainable methods that require little to no water to process the denim in this collection to support our message and educate consumers of the harm caused by this fabric to our environment.
