Marex
Marex is a capsule collection of women's swimwear that uses patent-pending technology to collect microplastics from ocean water as the wearer swims around. Aesthetically inspired by the utopian dreamscape of what could be infused with modern trends, Marex intends to bring sustainability to the new generation of everyday consumers. By cleaning up the messes that are already there, Marex intends to reinvent true circularity.
Alexis's logistical skills and attention to detail are evident in this collection; blocking her original textile with traditional swimwear textiles that allows for environmental clean up while taking into account sensitive areas of the body as well as general usability features like drag and fit.
The original textile featured in this collection uses a multi-tiered system to attract and capture the microplastics while protecting against direct skin contact. Currently, the prototypes are made of a poly/nylon blend, but continued work and research is being done to reconstruct the system using organic fiber compounds. While the textile may not provide a mass industrial solution to completely ridding microplastics from large bodies of water, it allows everyday to consumers to help with an already occurring problem through minimal extra effort.

Patent-Pending Technology
The microplastic collecting textile is currently patent-pending. Prototypically made of a poly/nylon blended, multi-tiered system, further research is being done to recreate the structure in organic fiber compounds. To get involved for partnership or funding please contact Alexis directly.
Passive Solutions for Systemic Change
Alexis’s designs capitalize on already occurring actions to provide clean solutions and redefine circularity by combining progression and succession. Because for a generation plagued in every direction, choosing the dopamine rush of a trend should not be the reason for an increasingly unpromised future.
