After the grey clouds of the past few months, designers Alexandra Roehler & Johanna Kühl are looking optimistically towards the future. Their Bridal 2021 collection is taking us on a trip to Cloud No. 9 – no doubt the best of all clouds.

The first international Cloud Atlas, dating back to 1896, referenced Cloud No. 9, the fluffy Cumulonimbus cloud that floats much higher than all the other clouds in the sky. Cloud 9 is a place for euphoria, lovers and joyful bliss.

The designers have taken this feeling but focused on its essence. Cloud No. 9 is pure and less playful than previous collections. Clean-cut designs like the Edgy Dream Dress or the Bow Overall take centre stage in the collection. This time, hand-sewn flower embroidery serves more as an added highlight than an all-over floral pattern. New to Kaviar Gauche, this minimalism is the designers’ response to the current situation – a contemporary take on bridal couture for 2021.

The Cloud No. 9 theme is conveyed by endless metres of floating tulle skirts, puff sleeves, oversized silhouettes and beguiling transparency. This exclusively ivory-coloured collection consists of four couture and 17 ready-to-marry looks, giving the Kaviar Gauche bride look an air of innocence, effortlessness and unique strength.

The collection’s silhouettes vary between the typical Kaviar Gauche gown style and a minimalist profile. Cloud No. 9 therefore covers the entire spectrum of bridal occasions, from large ceremonies to smaller weddings.

A statement is being made this season with the special emphasis on the shoulders. Puff sleeves in different designs are making an appearance in several looks. Elaborate flounces, oversized sleeves and contoured shoulders exude romance and strength at the same time.

The textures of the layered and 3D fringed fabrics are truly extraordinary and conjure interesting details on veils and accessories, but can also attract admiring glances as a dress or a comfortable triangle top. Lightness and sensuality, both characteristic Kaviar Gauche attributes, are achieved primarily through the use of premium-quality materials, including crêpe de chine, silk organza and tulle.

Even in times of crisis, Kaviar Gauche is giving its brides the luxury to continue dreaming – and, true to the marriage vow “for better or for worse”, the designers are continuing to celebrate love with a happy ending on Cloud No. 9.

The collection will be available in the four Kaviar Gauche mono-label stores in Berlin, Munich, and Dusseldorf and in the Kaviar Gauche Online Store from October 2020. The exclusive wholesale-partners are Loho Bride (Los Angeles, USA) and Maria Luisa Marriage/ Printemps (Paris, France).

The collection was styled with shoes by Jimmy Choo and jewellery by Sabrina Dehoff and Deepa Gurnani.
