Romance Redefined: A Capsule for Brides

Adhering to a traditional palette of neutrals with slight tonal variations, the central feature of our latest capsule for brides are its rich, textural components arising from exquisite fabrics and the inventive handling of them. “When the brocades, laces and dotted tulles first arrived at the atelier from Europe, I knew the tactile and optical effects of them would reign supreme in this collection,” shared Tcherassi, “there is something powerful and alluring about well-executed textures, both visually and in terms of touch,” she added. 

With this in mind, Tcherassi experimented with the overlapping of laces to create entirely new patterns as well as the artful layering of embroidered designs. “I went back to some of my most iconic wedding gown silhouettes of all time and reworked them under a lens of modern-day romanticism. I wanted to be daring, but still minimal,” the designer stated. The 16 pieces showcase a blend of Victorian-era influences, avant-garde elements and incorporate novelties from recent collections, for example the high-necked sculptural collars.

To capture the dream-like qualities of these intricate works of art, as well as their timelessness, Tcherassi looked to the everlasting work of Paolo Roversi and Man Ray. “Both artists' photographs possess a special transcendence to them. They feel entirely modern, but also completely sophisticated and elegant. This notion was important to me when framing this capsule,” Tcherassi finalized.
