Resort 2022
Carolina K’s Resort 2022 collection explores the concept of traveling spiritually while under quarantine to the most meaningful topics of interest for Creative Director Carolina Kleinman and her family.
Motivated by her deep admiration for African cultures, Carolina had long planned to travel to South Africa prior to the pandemic to work on a project honoring the Ndebele people and their artistically painted homes. Alas, while circumstances did not permit travel these techniques traditionally used as a means to communicate between neighbors, provided inspiration for RE22’s earthy tonal patterns.
Carolina K found a heightened need to show the beauty of nature and Mother Earth through design in hopes to further amplify the state of global warming and ocean pollution. Her trademark maximalist, original prints of flowers, birds and nature reference German Zoologist Ernst Haeckel’s many discovered species. Colombian artist Paula “Paulet” Gonzales, was commissioned to illustrate the crowned cranes and leopards while a cooperative of Peruvian artisans, Mision Huscaran, developed hand crochet swim suits and dresses. RE22 serves as a reminder of all the beauty in nature that could be lost if not cherished.
