There is beauty to be found in these distressing times, the beauty of grey. Katie Gallagher’s Fall / Winter 2021 finds the greys of her Venice, CA surroundings, and certainly to current events, the launch point for her 15-look womenswear collection.

FW21 interprets the poetic hue in a palette that, depending on the light, takes on rich deep blues and purples to the eye. The dominant fabric is a sumptuous velvet with the season-less fabrics such as silk and cotton with velvet accents trims and bows—a design continuation from Gallagher’s SS21 collection. Leggings have proved one of the brand’s signature items. FW21 leggings are offered in a multitude of textures such as tulle and chiffon cut panels in velvet that may be worn as separate or layered pieces underneath ankle length column skirts of fishnet tulle.

Fall Winter 2021 marks Gallagher’s 24th collection. She launched her women’s ready-to-wear brand more than a decade ago in New York City; her signature style, which combines subtly detailed, minimalist garments, has evolved over the seasons and continues to resonate through all Gallagher’s recent collections, including last season's Orpiment (SS21).

Through her work as an independent designer, Gallagher has created an eco-conscious brand that utilizes dead stock and recycled poly-based fabrics, giving the material a rebirth while pairing it with silk, Nylon, mesh, tulle, and lambskin.
