Spring 2022
For Spring 2022, Creative Director Zoe Turner continues to build on the brand codes while developing the signature style of the house at present with a romantic attitude for dressing. Playing on the codes of knitwear, the key silhouette of the season is the unassuming cardigan, which is elevated in a smart yet soft jacket, a cool layering piece in patch-work boucle, and a figure skimming button-down dress in stretch knitted tweed.
A strong connection is made with nature and its beauty with springtime florals running through the collection on a jacquard knit coat, soft tea dresses and slouchy ankle length print skirts. Signature SJ buttons are transformed into tiny poppy stems slipped through buttonholes like keepsakes from a walk in the field while dandelion jewels settle on the ear, and in the hair as a soft finishing touch. St. John’s unique textiles are reworked as delicate checks in the form of shirt jackets with matching button-through skirts, while softly frayed plaids bring a different approach to femininity. Metal zippers slice up and down tweed jackets and skirts revealing layers hidden beneath, or a little skin for the more daring. New looks include a strapless tweed bustier paired with relaxed matching tweed cargo pants. For evening, long peignoir translucent dresses are delicate and dramatic with a matching cape hugging the shoulders, highlighting transparency in the art of layering.
